In our therapeutic coaching sessions, I offer a safe space for you to gain awareness of what is, creating an accepting and non-judgemental environment, in which you will feel comfortable to share your thoughts and feelings. We work together to find answers that are true for you and the solutions that are right for you.

I use a powerful blend of traditional and alternative approaches and techniques, which I have found to be most effective. These include NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), Hypnotherapy, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), MBCT (Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy) and Life Coaching, applied as appropriate to you as an individual and your situation. This allows us to work holistically on a conscious and unconscious level, working as needed with your past, your present and envisioning your future.

It is through recognising and understanding our own experience of the world, that we gain awareness and can cultivate a sense of self-acceptance and compassion for ourselves, as well as others. From this point we can make positive changes within and undergo powerful transformation.

What is NLP?

Neuro-Linguistic Programming is a set of concepts and techniques to understand and change human behaviour patterns.

The name comes from the three areas it brings together. Neuro refers to the mind and how we think, Linguistics to how we use language and how it affects us, and Programming to how we organise our thinking and behaviour.

It is based on various assumptions or basic principles. A few of my favourites are:

  • We already have all of the resources that we need or we can create them.
  • Having a choice is better than not having a choice.
  • The mind and body are one system.

How can it help?

Through understanding how we create our own experience of the world, we are able to make changes. NLP provides effective tools and processes that work with the conscious and unconscious mind to resolve a wide range of issues.

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnotic techniques for therapeutic purposes. It involves accessing a light, relaxed trance state whereby the unconscious mind is more accessible and open to suggestion. You will remain aware of what is going on at all times and cannot be compelled to do anything you don’t feel comfortable with. We often experience such trance states in our daily lives, such as when we are driving or watching TV.

How can it help?

Our unconscious mind is responsible for around 93% of our behaviour. Through accessing a relaxed trance state the unconscious mind is more accessible and receptive to enabling the positive change you would like. It is a way of influencing unhelpful unconscious programming.

What is EFT?

Emotional Freedom Technique is a simple yet effective technique that involves tapping on acupressure points (like acupuncture but without the needles), while acknowledging feelings, thoughts and physical symptoms.

How can it help?

This mind-body technique helps to change perceptions and offers emotional and physical relief for the problem focused on. It allows you to clear past traumas and to let go of limiting beliefs. It encourages a sense of self-acceptance and self-compassion, often bringing clarity and restoring a sense of balance and harmony to both the mind and body.

What is MBCT?

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy is a combination of ancient wisdom and meditation practices, combined with 21st-century science.

How can it help?

It teaches us to pay attention to the present moment, rather than worrying about the past or future, and to let go of the negative thoughts that can tip us over into depression or anxiety. It also teaches awareness of our own body, helping us to identify problems before they take over.

Mindfulness encourages us to cultivate certain attitudes that can be helpful for us to apply to ourselves and others in our daily lives such as: non-judgement, patience, beginners mind, trust, non-striving, acceptance and letting go. 

What is Life Coaching?

Life coaching is about establishing how you feel about different areas of your life – identifying where you are and where you would like to be, then creating a plan to get you there. It involves identifying your values and making sure that your goals are aligned to them.

How can it help?

Building a clear picture of what you would like enables you to find ways to work towards this and to achieve the change that you want to experience. Life coaching ensures that you are living a life aligned with your deepest and most strongly held values.
